What Is Rahanni Celestial Healing? A Gentle Introduction

3 min read

If you have browsed holistic therapies in Ireland lately, you may have noticed the name Rahanni popping up more and more. It is a gentle, hands-on form of energy healing that many Irish practitioners now offer alongside Reiki, reflexology and other therapies. Here is a friendly introduction for anyone who is curious.

What does Rahanni mean?

The word Rahanni is usually translated as “of one heart”, which gives you a good sense of the therapy itself. Practitioners describe Rahanni Celestial Healing as a heart-centred form of energy healing, focused on love, compassion and inner peace.

What is Rahanni Celestial Healing?

Rahanni is an energy therapy, which means it is based on the traditional idea that we have an energy field around and through the body. Practitioners describe it as working with a high, gentle vibration of energy, often linked with the colour pink and with the heart centre. Many also connect it with angelic or celestial energy, which is where the Celestial in the name comes from.

You do not need to share any particular beliefs to receive Rahanni. It is not tied to any religion, and people come to it from all walks of life.

Like all the therapies on Holistic Ireland, Rahanni is a complementary therapy. It is not a medical treatment and does not replace your GP or any care you are receiving.

What happens in a session?

  • You will usually start with a short chat about how you are feeling and what you are hoping for.

  • You lie down, fully clothed, on a treatment couch, often with a blanket for comfort.

  • The practitioner places their hands gently on, or just above, different areas of the body.

  • Many practitioners play soft music, and some use crystals or essential oils.

  • A session usually lasts around an hour, though some are shorter.

Some practitioners offer Rahanni on its own, and some combine it with other therapies such as Reiki or Indian head massage. People often describe feeling deeply relaxed, peaceful or lighter afterwards. Some feel warmth or tingling during the session, and some simply drift off. However it feels for you is fine.

How is Rahanni different from Reiki?

Rahanni and Reiki are both gentle, hands-on energy therapies, and a session of each can look quite similar from the outside. The difference is mostly in the focus. Practitioners describe Rahanni as especially heart-centred, with an emphasis on compassion and emotional balance, while Reiki is usually described as working with universal life energy. Many Irish practitioners are trained in both and will happily talk you through the difference. You can read more in What is Reiki? and What is Energy Healing?
